Information about Seldovia Village Tribe

Camai'. - Welcome

The Seldovia Village Tribe is a federally recognized Indian tribe which works to service its members and the communities of Kachemak Bay through many different programs. Below you will find a descriptive list of these programs and a link to each page. Please contact us if you have any questions or need further information.

Alaska Tribal Cache/Gift Store
The Alaska Tribal Cache sells jams and jellies wholesale and retail in Seldovia, Alaska, and around the world. This Seldovia Village Tribe business (also called Chesloknu Foods) hires full-time and part-time workers to produce the locally-made products, with berries, flowers and kelp harvested in the Seldovia area. The Gift Store carries authentic hand crafted items from around Seldovia, plus lots of desirable Alaska gifts. You can also find Tribal Logo wear. Purchase these fine products by visiting our Shopping page.
Health
The Seldovia Village Tribe offers a variety of health services, from meeting simple community health needs, to providing contract health care for medical, dental, pharmaceutical, and emergency needs. Additionally, the Tribe has opened a clinic which will serve Alaskan Natives in and around the Seldovia area. The Tribe also has an extensive Prevention program. To learn more about these many services, visit the Community Health page or the SVT HealthCenter site.
Environmental, Social Service, Housing, Scholarships
SVT is working to provide a voice through many different avenues regarding environmental issues in Seldovia and the Kachemak Bay area, in addition to helping educate our children and community regarding environmental issues. The Tribe works to help those in need of aid through the General Assistance, Indian Child Welfare Act and Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Programs. SVT provides a hot lunch three days a week in Seldovia for local elders. The Seldovia Village Tribal Housing Program is set up to provide services and resources to help Tribal members and Seldovia residents apply for home loans and handle housing-related calls and liason work. This office is set up to help meet individuals' housing needs. SVT members and lineal descendants can apply for financial scholarships. For more information on these and other Programs, please see our Services page.
