The Seldovia Village Tribal Housing Office opened under HUD’s NAHASDA Grant funding in 1999. Since its opening, the SVT Tribal Housing Office has provided assistance to Tribal and community members for housing needs and concerns. At the inception of the SVT Housing Office, the Seldovia Village Tribal Council realized the lack of representation necessary to accomplishing "getting things done" in the area of housing-related issues. Through the Tribal Housing Office, the Council has set into place a pattern of open communications with other Tribal Entities, Housing Program and Loan Associations, as well as Government Entities such as HUD. This connection enables you to have a stronger voice for your housing needs. Information concerning homeownership programs for low-income Alaska Native/American Indian families - residing within the jurisdiction of SVT - is available through the Tribal Housing Office. Seldovia Tribal Members and community members will find the following resources and services available at the Housing Office: 1. Help with gathering of necessary documents when applying for a home loan 2. Assistance in filling in the application. 3. Availability of phone contact and liaison work for housing-related activities. 4. Other resources, information and services for your housing needs. 5. Provide rental assistance including first month’s rent and/or security deposit to permit a family to move into an apartment or home, funding can also be used to provide rental assistance to college students. 6. Provide a portion of the down payment/closing cost. 7. Provide one-time emergency assistance to families who are in danger of becoming homeless due to foreclosure, eviction and loss of main utilities such as electricity, heating fuel, propane and main telephone. 8. Provide safe and decent homes for families living in substandard housing through a Modernization/Rehabilitation/Weatherization Program
The Seldovia Village Tribal Housing Office is open Monday through Friday during the hours of 8:00 am- 5:00 p.m. You can call Marcia Patrick with questions at (907) 234-7898 Ext. 235, or send an email to mpatrick@svt.org.
