Seldovia Village Tribe Community Health Services

The Seldovia Village Tribe provides health services for people living in Seldovia. The Community Health Rep (CHR) works in the public school doing flouride treatments twice a year, as well as hosting an annual health fair in conjunction with the Public Health Nurses Association.

Another key element of the community health services provided is the work done by the community rep with local senior citizens. The CHR does home visits to ensure their well-being by checking vital statistics and checking to see if they are in good spirits. SVT also provides the elders with transportation to the local post office and to the grocery store. Visit our Senior Meals Page to learn more about the lunches SVT cooks for community members three times a week. The CHR also helps people fill out forms for public and energy assistance.

Debbie Hecks has served as the Tribe's Community Health Representative since 1989. She is an EMT III and has her Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. If you are interested in learning more about the services she provides or how you might be able to volunteer at the annual health fair, give her a call at the Tribal Offices at (907) 234-7898, or send an email to dhecks@svt.org.
