Native American Job Bank - TERO

Alaska Natives and American Indians have a sovereign right to employment opportunities on and near their own land. These rights are protected through the local tribal governing body (Seldovia Village Tribe).

Open to Seldovia Village Tribe Members and to all Native Americans, SVTs Tribal Enrolment Rights Office (TERO) protects Native rights on federally-funded contracts, subcontracts, and other training opportunities in the village or region.

Using federal government regulations and laws, TERO negotiates job slots in each craft category on construction contracts within the boundaries of the village corporation. Qualified Alaska Natives must fill these slots before any non-natives can be hired. This allows Seldovia’s workforce to achieve maximum employment by ensuring that employment rights of the villages are protected in the strongest manner possible. On-site checks ensure that employers are in compliance with their Indian preference requirements.

TERO also helps investigate and mediate discrimination problems that occur in or near Seldovia.

How to Enroll in TERO
